China is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in all sectors of Bangladesh, including the military, for the development of Bangladesh, Chinese ambassador in Dhaka Yao Wen said on Tuesday.
The envoy made the remarks while delivering a lecture at the National Defence College in Dhaka.
‘China is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with all sectors of Bangladesh, including the military, to help Bangladesh achieve better development,’ he said.
Yao Wen said that China had consistently adhered to a friendly policy of good-neighbourliness toward all Bangladeshi people, and firmly advanced the development of China-Bangladesh relations.
The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bangladesh shared a post on social media over the ambassador’s lecture, delivered at the invitation of the National Defence College.Â
Rear Admiral AKM Jakir Hossain, the acting commandant of the NDC, together with more than 100 officers of the Bangladesh Armed Forces and representatives of foreign militaries were present at the lecture, according to the Facebook post.
Ambassador Yao said that 2025 was a significant milestone, marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
‘China advocates the establishment of a security concept that emphasises a common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable approach,’ he said.
Hegemony, expansion, or spheres of influence find no place in the Chinese dictionary, he said.
China is committed to working with the international community, including Bangladesh, to champion an equal and orderly multi-polar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, advance the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, and strive toward building a community with a shared future for mankind, the envoy mentioned.
At the end of the lecture, Ambassador Yao had interactions with the audience on the Belt and Road Initiative, the Indo-Pacific Strategy, the BRICS and the Rohingya issue.
