The High Court has barred film actor Monowar Hossain Dipjol from performing his duties as general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association for six months.
The HC also asked social welfare ministry to investigate the allegations that Dipjol manipulated the election of the BFAA held on May 19 by bribing voters and ousting the agents representing Mahmud Koli-Nipun Akhter panel from the polling station at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation.
The bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque passed the order on Monday after hearing a writ petition filed by Dipjol鈥檚 counterpart and actress Nipun Akhter. Misha Sawdagar has been elected as the president and Monowar Hossain Dipjol general secretary of the BFAA for the term 2024-2026.
Misha Sawdagar received 265 votes, defeating his rival Mahmud Koli by 170 votes. Monowar Hossain Dipjol received 225 votes and Nipun Akter received 209 votes.
