Chief election commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin on Wednesday said that the commission would not bow to any pressure during the upcoming national election.
Speaking at the Election Training Institute in the capital鈥檚 Agargaon area, the CEC made the comment while inaugurating a training of trainers programme for Upazila Nirbahi Officers on election management.
He called upon all levels of field administration to carry out their duties with honesty and integrity, strictly in accordance with the law.
Emphasising the importance of a free and fair election, Nasir Uddin urged the officials to ensure that the upcoming polls are credible and acceptable to all.
鈥極fficials must strive to present a fair and acceptable election to the nation. There can be no compromise on integrity,鈥� the CEC said.
During the workshop, the election commissioners delivered various instructive and directional speeches to the Upazila Nirbahi Officers.
They clarified that there would be no traditional campaign posters allowed this time. However, digital billboards and banners will be permitted.
They also asserted that mobile courts must operate with complete transparency.
Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud said, 鈥榃e have our backs against the wall 鈥� there is no alternative but to conduct a good election. Despite all obstacles, we must deliver a credible and successful election.鈥�
