The Secondary School Certificate and its equivalent examinations are going to start on April 10 and conclude on May 22 across the country as per a revised routine published by the Inter-Education Board Examination Regulatory Committee on Wednesday.
According to another routine issued by the committee on the same day, this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate and its equivalent examinations will start on June 26 across the country.
Both the routines were signed by SM Kamal Uddin Haider, convener of the committee and examination controller at the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board.
As per the routines, the duration of each examination will be three hours — from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
Earlier, on December 12, 2024, the committee under the education ministry issued a routine of the SSC and its equivalent examinations, as per which the examinations were scheduled to be concluded by May 18.
According to the revised routine, the examinations will be concluded by May 22 as the date for only one examination — Bangla (compulsory) 2nd paper — has been deferred from April 13 to May 13.
On April 13, farmers traditionally observe the Chaitra Sankranti festival and some of the national minority communities observe their biggest traditional festival, Boisabi Utsab.
This year the Chakma people are scheduled to observe the three-day festival from April 12 and the Marma people from April 13.
The HSC and its equivalent examinations will be concluded by August 21.
Kamal Uddin, however, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that they had revised the routine as per an education ministry directive that mentioned ‘unavoidable’ reason for the change.
The theoretical part of the SSC and equivalent examinations will be held from April 10 to May 13 and the practical part from May 15 to May 22.
The theoretical part of the HSC and its equivalent examinations will be held from June 26 to August 10 and the practical part from August 11 to August 21.
In the routines, special instructions regarding both the examinations have been given.
No one, except for the examination secretary of the designated official for the examination centre, will be allowed to carry mobile phones to the examination centres.
All examinees are requested to enter their respective examination halls 30 minutes before the starting time and use only basic scientific calculators (non-programmed).
A candidate’s examinations will not be held at his/her own educational institution.
