The government on Tuesday appointed professor Niaz Ahmed Khan as the vice-chancellor of Dhaka University and professor Md Sayedur Rahman as the vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.

The education ministry on the day issued two separate circulars in this regard.


Professor ASM Amanullah,聽 meanwhile, is set to be appointed as the new vice-chancellor of National University.

Till Tuesday night no circular had been issued in this regard though.

An education ministry circular read that following the approval of the president and chancellor and as per the Dhaka University Order, 1973, the university鈥檚 development studies professor Niaz Ahmed Khan was appointed as the vice-chancellor of the university on temporary basis following some (five) conditions.

The conditions are鈥攈is appointment will be in effect from the day of his joining, for the post he will get salary and other benefits as per his present post, he will get other facilities as per the rules, he will stay on the campus always as the chief executive officer and the president and chancellor can cancel this appointment anytime if necessary.

Same day, another ministry circular read that following the approval of the president and chancellor and as per the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Act, 1998, the university鈥檚 pharmacology department chairman professor Md Sayedur聽Rahman had been appointed as the vice-chancellor of the university聽following some (five) conditions.

The conditions are鈥攖he duration of his appointment will be four years, for the post he will get salary and other benefits as per his present post and after retiring from his man post he will fulfil the remaining years of the vice-chancellor post, he will get other facilities as per the rules, he will fulfil his duties as per the 1998 law and the president and chancellor can cancel this appointment anytime if necessary.
