Rain became the spoilsport of Bangladesh鈥檚 chance of clean-sweeping the Netherlands as the third and final T20I of the series was abandoned at the Sylhet International Stadium on Wednesday.听
Bangladesh were 164-4 in 18.2 overs when rain halted the play for the second and final time in the evening.听
Liton Das was instrumental with his innings of 73 runs off 46 balls, while Jaker Ali and Nurul Hasan, playing his first T20I since 2022, remained unbeaten on 20 off 13 and 22 off 11, respectively.听
After winning the first two matches comprehensively, Bangladesh came with an eye to make it 3-0.听
Bangladesh, who made as many as five changes in the eleven, were put into bat first for the first time in the series.听
A new opening pair of Saif Hassan and Liton got off to a flying start as they put on 51 runs in just 3.4 overs despite Saif being clean bowled for 12 before a floodlight failure halted the play for the first time in the match.听
Play resumed only for three deliveries as rain came down in Sylhet, with Bangladesh on 60-0 in 4.1 overs. Liton, who came to open for the first time since the UAE series, was unbeaten on 42 off 16.听
But a break of around half an hour somewhat halted the progress of Liton as well as Bangladesh. Towhid Hridoy, coming at three, struggled throughout his innings of nine off 14.
Liton reached his second fifty of the series in 27 balls. He was well on course for a hundred but never found the rhythm again.听
Shamim Hossain (21 off 19) couldn鈥檛 capitalise on his promotion in the batting order.
Jaker and Nurul picked up pace as Klein went for 22 runs in his final over before rain came down again.听
