India’s Border Security Force pushed 11 more Rohingyas into Bangladesh through the Khutamara border of Baldia union at Bhurungamari upazila in Kurigram early Friday.
With the latest push-ins, the number of people, including Rohingyas and Indian nationals, pushed into Bangladesh by India since May 7 has increased to 2,372.
The Indian border force has so far pushed at least 223 Rohingyas, including 50 registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in India, into Bangladesh.
Bhurungamari police station officer-in-charge Al Helal Mahmud said that later they were detained by the Border Guard Bangladesh at about 6:00am on Friday.
He said that their information was being verified and further legal action was under way.
According to the BGB, the BSF members pushed the detainees into Bangladesh through 1011 pillar of the Khutamara border.
Later, they started roaming in the Sonahat Amtali area on the Sonahat land port-Kachakata road, the BGB members said.
At that time, a patrol team of the Sonahat BGB camp detained them.
Lieutenant Colonel Mahbub Ul Haque, commander of Kurigram-22 BGB Battalion, said that the detainees were handed over to Bhurungamari police station.
During the interrogation, the detainees confessed that they were Rohingyas, displaced Myanmar citizens, Mahbub said.
