
Language movement hero and writer Ahmed Rafiq died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital Dhaka on Thursday.
He died of cardiac arrest at the BIRDEM Hospital at about 10:00pm, said ICU duty doctor at the hospital, Md Sazzad Hossain.
Ahmed Rafiq was 96.
His literary works include Nirbasita Nayak, Shilpa Sangskriti Jiban, Nazrul Kabye Jibansadhana, Arek Kalantare and Nirbachita Rabindranath.
For his contribution, he received several awards, including the Bangla Academy Literary Award and Ekushey Padak.
