North South University has organised a discussion and prayer session on the occasion of Holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi on Sunday, says a press release.
Aziz Al Kaiser, chairman of the NSU Board of Trustees, attended the programme as chief guest, while Benajir Ahmed, member of the NSU board of trustees, was present as special guest.
Md Ahsanul Hadi, associate professor, Department of Persian Language and Literature, University of Dhaka, attended as the keynote speaker.
The programme was presided over by Professor Abdur Rob Khan, treasurer and pro-vice-chancellor of NSU.
The event began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an. In his welcome speech, NSU proctor Professor Abdul Khaleque said, ‘The Holy Prophet (PBUH) came to this world as a messenger of human welfare. He spread the teachings of brotherhood and love among humanity. Following his life and actions can make our lives more meaningful.’
In his discussion, Md Ahsanul Hadi stated, ‘The Holy Prophet (PBUH) did not come only for civilisation or education, but for the necessity of humanity and morality. During his time, there was no sense of ethics among people. He transformed a nation plunged into darkness into the world’s most civilised and prosperous nation.’
He further added, ‘The life and deeds of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) are exemplary for all humanity. Even if a nation embraces only his philosophy of life, that nation will undoubtedly reach the highest peak of progress.’
Special guest Benajir Ahmed said, ‘The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) embodied knowledge. For the reform of humankind, Almighty Allah sent the greatest of men to earth. We must build our lives by following his ideals and teachings.’
In his speech as chief guest, Aziz Al Kaiser said, ‘The teachings that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) imparted to the entire Arab nation are exemplary for all underdeveloped nations of the world. From our present state, only the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) can show us the path forward.’
Presiding over the prooverme, Professor Abdur Rob Khan, Treasurer and Pro-Vice Chancellor (IC) of NSU, remarked, ‘By following the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), we must continue striving to enlighten our lives.’
The programme concluded with a prayer and supplication led by Ahsanul Hadi.
