A total of 39 people died of dengue while 10,496 cases were reported in the month of August, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.

The number of dengue patients in July was 10,684 while the health authorities logged 41 deaths.


Meanwhile, 552 new dengue cases were reported in the 24 hours till Monday morning (September 1), raising the number of confirmed cases to 32,028 this year.

The number of deaths remained at 122, as no new fatalities were reported during this period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the DGHS, new cases were reported as follows: 114 in Barishal Division (Out of CC), 97 in Chattogram Division (Out of CC), 107 in Dhaka Division (Out of CC), 94 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 59 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 44 in Khulna Division (Out of CC), 14 in Mymensingh Division (Out of CC), 21 in Rajshahi Division (Out of CC), and two in Sylhet division (Out of CC).

Currently, 1,584 patients are receiving treatment in various hospitals across the country.

In the past year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.
