Customs intelligence officials detained a foreign national with more than eight kilograms of cocaine worth Tk 130 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Tuesday.
The passenger, identified as Karen Petula Stuffle, a citizen of Guyana, arrived on a Qatar Airways flight from Doha at about 2:30am on Tuesday.
Karen arrived in Bangladesh on a visa-on-arrival, according to a press release signed by Sonia Akter, deputy director of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate.
Acting on specific intelligence, a team from the directorate in coordination with airport security agencies intercepted the passenger, the release said.
A search of her luggage uncovered three plastic jars containing 22 foil-wrapped, egg-shaped packets of cocaine.
Filing a case in the matter was underway, the press release added.
