
Nine deep injury marks were found on the body of journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin, 38, who was killed in Gazipur city on August 7.Â
¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· correspondent in Gazipur reported that the forensic department of Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in the city handed the autopsy report to the police on Sunday night.
‘Nine deep wounds on his throat, neck, chest, back and arms were found which were caused by a sharp weapon,’ said Gazipur Metropolitan Police additional commissioner Mohammad Jahidul Hasan.
Eight people, including the prime suspect, were arrested and seven of them were remanded in police custody in the case filed over the killing.
The arrested are: prime suspect Mizanur Rahman alias Ketu Mizan, his wife Parul Akhter Golapi, Shahidul, Md Shahjalal, Al Amin, Faisal Hasan, Shah Jamal and Sumon.Â
Shahjalal made a confessional statement before a Gazipur court on Monday when all the seven accused were produced before the court after completion of their two-day remand.
Judge of the Gazipur Metropolitan Court-3 Omar Haidar recorded the deposition of Shahjalal, said Bason police sub-inspector Dulal Chandra Das, also the case investigation officer.
Later, all the accused were sent to jail.
Meanwhile, journalists on Monday continued holding human chains at different places across the country, demanding justice for Tuhin.
¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· correspondent in Manikganj reported that members of Manikganj Press Club, Bangladesh Sangbadik Samity’s Manikganj district-unit and Television Reporters Unity formed a human chain on the Manikganj Press Club premises at around 10:00am.Â
They demanded exemplary punishment for those responsible for the killing and warned that protests would intensify if justice for Tuhin’s murder was not delivered and journalist safety was not guaranteed nationwide.
¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· correspondent in Jashore also reported that journalists formed a human chain on the Jashore Press Club premises demanding immediate trial for the murder.
On Sunday, home adviser retired Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that the government would submit the charge sheet in journalist Tuhin murder case as soon as possible and take all necessary steps to ensure stern punishment for those involved.
