Researcher, litterateur and president of Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigoshthi Professor Badiur Rahman died while undergoing treatment at a Dhaka hospital early Thursday.
He breathed his last in the midnight while he was undergoing treatment at city鈥檚 Health and Hope hospital, family sources said.
People of all strata paid tributes to him at Central Shahid Minar in the capital at 11:00am Thursday by placing floral wreath on his coffin.
Udichi central Sangsad, Bangladesher Communist Party, NAP communist party, Chhatra Union special guerrilla force, Bangladesh Chhatra Union, Bangladesh Juba Union, Central Khelaghor Asor and Charan Sangskrit Kendra paid respect to him.
Speaking on the occasion, Udichi central Sangsad general secretary Amit Ranjan Dev recalled the role of Professor Badiur Rahman in all activities of Udichi till his death.
His body was taken to Barishal for burial.
Before the burial, he will be given guard of honour as a freedom fighter and cross section of people of Barishal will also pay homage to him at Barishal Central Shahid Minar, sources said.
