Director general of the Border Guard Bangladesh, Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, on Thursday expressed his firm belief that the newly inducted BGB soldiers would protect every inch of the country’s land even at the cost of their lives.

‘They will provide impenetrable security, allowing people to sleep peacefully. These young soldiers will be symbols of trust and security at the borders,’ the BGB DG said at the concluding ceremony of the 103rd Recruit Batch, said a press release.


He addressed as chief guest at the ceremony at the Bir Uttam Mojibur Rahman Parade Ground of Border Guard Training Centre and College at Satkania in Chattogram.

BGTCC commandant Brigadier General Gazi Nahiduzzaman was also present at the time.

The director general said that the BGB had been providing security to the 4,427-kilometre border of Bangladesh, including border land and resources, preventing smuggling of drugs and weapons and other illegal goods, and preventing trafficking of women and children, as well as suppressing any kind of cross-border crime.

‘Not only that, the BGB is also able to perform its duties with trust and reputation in assisting the civil administration in maintaining internal law and order in the country,’ he mentioned.

He also directed the new soldiers to carry out any assigned duty in an orderly and efficient manner, inspired and motivated by the four main mottos of the BGB — morale, brotherhood, discipline and efficiency.

The BGB DG congratulated the new soldiers on this occasion of taking up the task of serving the country.

Addressing the new female soldiers, the BGB DG said, ‘The participation, contribution and sacrifice of the great women in the Liberation War are unforgettable. Today, the new female soldiers are going to enter the soldier’s life with a strong oath to protect the independence and sovereignty of the motherland.’

He firmly believes that the new soldiers will give their lives if necessary to protect the integrity of the motherland, but will not let even an inch of the country’s soil be lost. The new soldiers will never disappoint and disappoint the countrymen. The flawless security provided by them will ensure the uninterrupted sleep of the people of the country. These new soldiers will be the symbol of security and trust of the border.

The BGB DG presented the crest for their success to the 1st place holder of the best smart recruit of the 103rd Recruit Batch, Saif Mia, and the best soldiers in other fields.

The basic training of the 103rd recruit batch started on January 26. After completing the 24-week training, a total of 694 recruits, 658 men and 36 women, took the oath and entered the BGB.
