A woman was brutally hacked to death and dismembered by her husband following a family dispute at a rented flat in the Bayezid area of Chattogram city early Thursday.
The incident occurred around midnight at an apartment in RK Tower of the Paharikha Housing Society under Bayezid Bostami police station.
The victim, Fatema Begum, 20, had been living in the flat with her husband, Md Sumon, 25, a professional driver, who went into hiding after the gruesome killing, police said.
Bayezid Bostami police station officer-in-charge Md Kamruzzaman said that the couple had a long-standing marital conflict. During an argument, Sumon allegedly attacked his wife with a sharp weapon. The assault was so vicious that Fatema was beheaded and her body was dismembered into 11 pieces.

Fatema鈥檚 remains were sent to the forensic department of Chittagong Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Later in the day, the victim鈥檚 brother filed a case with Bayezid Bostami police station in connection with the murder. /
