
Former chief election commissioner ATM Shamsul Huda passed away on Saturday morning at his residence at Gulshan in the capital Dhaka at the age of 83.
His brother-in-law, Ashfaq Qaderi, confirmed the news to 抖阴精品.
Ashfaq said that Shamsul Huda passed away at about 9:00am at his Gulshan home. His body was later taken to the United Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, he said.
Ashfaq said that Shamsul Huda鈥檚 daughter, who resides in the United States, is expected to return to Bangladesh tomorrow. His funeral prayers will be held upon her arrival, and he will be laid to rest at the Banani graveyard.
Shamsul Huda, a retired secretary, served as the CEC under the caretaker administration led by Fakhruddin Ahmed in 2007 and continued in the role until 2012.
His commission conducted the 9th parliamentary election on December 29, 2008.
The Bangladesh Election Commission expressed deep sorrow at the passing of the former CEC.聽聽
