
The police are yet to arrest anyone three days after the incident of vandalising Hotel Zakaria International Ltd and molesting and beating two women on Tuesday night.
The hotel’s bar manager Abu Bakkar Siddique filed a case with the Banani police against five people, including Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s youth front Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal Banani thana unit convener Monir Hossain, and 20–25 unnamed people, said Banani police officer-in-charge Rasel Sarwar.
The other named accused in the case are Liton, Hasan, Shamu and Zahir.Â
‘All of our teams are working to arrest the accused,’ the OC said, adding that although the hotel owner filed a case over the allegations of vandalism but two alleged women victims did not file any complaint yet.
The OC said that two female victims were dancers at the bar.
A video of the incident went viral on social media where two young women were seen molested and beaten by a gang of males.
Meanwhile on Thursday, Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal expelled Banani thana unit convener Monir Hossain and Juba Dal Dhaka north city unit joint convener Zahid Hossain primarily from their respective posts in two separate letters, saying that their activities went against the party discipline.
Juba Dal took the move a day after they were named in the case filed by the Hotel Zakaria International Ltd authority.
According to the case statements, Monir Hossain went to the bar of the hotel and took snacks and drinks on June 30. Afterwards, Monir asked for a VIP room which the hotel authority regretted, mentioning no vacancy.Â
The statement said that Liton with a group invaded the hotel’s bar and vandalised valuables of Tk 15 lakh and snatched Tk 70,000 from cash counter.
