About four years after the issuance of the examination notice, the Bangladesh Public Service Commission has recommended 1,690 candidates for cadre-service posts in the 44th Bangladesh Civil Service examination.
The notice of the 44th BCS exam was published on November 30 in 2021 for the recruitment against 1,710 vacancies in various cadre services.
The commission could not recommend candidates for 20 positions in the technical/professional cadre due to lack of qualified candidates, according to a press release issued by the commission Monday night.
The detailed information about recommendation is available on the commission’s web site (www.bpsc.gov.bd) and the Teletalk Bangladesh Limited’s web site (http://bpsc.teletalk.com.bd).
According to the commission, it was not possible to recommend all candidates who passed both in the written test and the viva voce for cadre posts.
Initiatives would be taken to recommend these candidates in phases, following the merit list and existing rules and regulations, subject to receiving a request for appointment to vacant posts from the government as per the provisions for appointment to non-cadre posts, said the press release.
A circular published by the commission on Monday said that the recommendation was given provisionally based on the candidates’ merit list and the government’s latest quota system.

Three hundred and forty-four candidates were recommended for the polytechnic, graphic arts and glass and ceramics institutes and Bangladesh Survey Institute under the BCS (technical education).
The appointing authorities would appoint the recommended candidates after checking the candidates’ certificates, documents and other papers, the circular mentioned.
The circular attached registration numbers of 8,272 candidates who passed both in the written test and the viva voce, but did not get recommendation by the commission for cadre positions.
The 44th BCS preliminary exam was held in the eight divisional cities in May 2022. Out of a total of 3,50,716 applicants, 15,708 passed the preliminary exam. A total of 11,732 candidates passed the written test.
The viva voce of the exam started in April 2024, but was postponed following the students’ protest and it was postponed again in August past year amid political unrests in the country. The viva voce concluded in June 2025.
