The Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Tuesday requested the police to add the name of former election commissioner Begum Rasheda Sultana as an accused in the case of election manipulation lodged with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station in Dhaka on June 22.

The case, filed by the BNP national executive committee member Salahuddin Khan, accused Rasheda Sultana and former chief election commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal of involvement in a fake election during the 2024 national election.

Although Rasheda Sultana was named in the initial complaint, her name was left out in the official papers due to a typing mistake, Salahuddin said in an application submitted to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station on Tuesday.

He requested the police to include her name properly as the 25th accused.

The case on June 22 was filed against 24 individuals, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, three former CECs, and other officials, for their alleged irregularities and partisan conduct in the 2014, 2018, and 2024 national elections.
