
At least four people were killed and three more were injured in road accidents in Barguna and Manikganj districts on Saturday.Â
Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that three of a family were killed and three others were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and an easy bike in the Keorabunia area under the sadar upazila of Barguna on Saturday noon.
All the victims were on the easy bike.
The deceased are Moshaddeka Begum, 24, wife of Zahidul Islam, her mother-in-law Khaleda Begum, 50, both residents of Baloibunia village under Kalapara upazila in Patuakhali and Moshaddeka’s father Azizul Haque, 65, of Paschim Sonakhali village under Amtali upazila in Barguna.
The accident took place on the Amtali-Patuakhali highway when a Ekra Paribahan bus hit the easy bike from the opposite direction, leaving two easy bike passengers—Khaleda and Azizul—dead on the spot and injuring four others, said Amtali police officer-in-charge Md Ariful Islam.
The injured were taken to Patuakhali Medical College and Hospital where Moshaddeka succumbed to her injuries and the two injured remained in critical condition.
Moshaddeka’s husband injured Zahidul Islam said, ‘We were going to Patuakhali to see a doctor with my new-born baby girl, my wife, father-in-law, mother, and uncle.’
Police seized the bus but its driver and his assistant managed to flee the scene, the officer-in-charge added.
United News of Bangladesh reported that a motorcyclist was killed when a bus hit the motorcycle on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in the Charkhand Golora area at Manikganj Sadar on Saturday morning.
The deceased is Tara Mia, 35, son of Moslem Mia of Jagir union under Manikganj sadar upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Golra Highway police station Sohel Sarwar said that when Tara Mia was going to work riding his motorcycle a speeding bus of Selfie Paribahan hit him, leaving him dead on the spot.
Legal action will be taken in this regard, he added.
Meanwhile, the death toll from a head-on collision between a bus and a Mahindra auto-rickshaw at Phulpur upazila in Mymensingh on Friday night reached eight, reported BSS.
¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· correspondent in Mymensingh reported that on Friday at around 5:30pm three people died in a head-on collision between an ambulance and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Kodhaldhar area under Tarakanda upazila in the district.
On Friday evening, BSS also reported that four people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Natore-Rajshahi highway in Natore.
