Home adviser lieutenant general (retired) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Tuesday said that the situation at the border was almost normal as the construction of barbed wire fencing had already been stopped.
‘There is no tension in the border now,’ he said while relying to a question after emerging from a view-exchange meeting with the divisional officers in Mymensingh.
The home adviser said that a director general level meeting of the two frontier forces of Bangladesh and India would be held in February.
‘The issues will be discussed at the BGB-BSF level DG meeting,’ he said.
Jahangir also said that some unbalanced agreements had been signed between the two neighbouring countries. ‘We have already sent a letter to this end.’
‘A discussion will be held on how the problems arose after signing the unequal agreements can be resolved,’ the adviser added.
