The Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court on Monday imposed an international travel ban on National Board of Revenue commissioner of customs, excise, and VAT in Sylhet Mohammed Enamul Haque.

Judge Mohammed Ash-Shams Joglul Hossain passed the order after hearing a petition submitted by Anti-Corruption Commission deputy director Farzana Yasmeen, said ACC public relations officer Aktarul Islam.

In the petition, the commission told the court that the NBR official was trying to leave the country while he was under ACC investigation on corruption charges and a travel ban should be imposed on him to prevent him from going abroad.

Earlier on July 4, the same court ordered the seizure of Enamul鈥檚 assets, including a nine-story building.

The commission filed a case on July 31, 2023, accusing Enamul of amassing illegal wealth of Tk 9.76 crore.

The court ordered the seizure of the nine-story building on a three-katha land on in Bashundhara residential area, two flats at Banani and Kakrail, three commercial spaces at Mohammadpur and a car parking lot at Gulshan.

The court also ordered the seizure of lands owned by Enamul in Gazipur and Badda in Dhaka.
