In a drive on Monday, the Anti-Corruption Commission discovered that Sadeeq Agro had imported banned Brahman cattle and medicine.
ACC found the evidence during a drive at a farmhouse of Sadeeq Agro in Keraniganj, and another drive at the Central Cattle Breeding and Dairy Farm in Savar, said ACC officials.
Sadeeq Agro Limited came under scrutiny recently for selling a goat worth Tk 12 lakh to the young son of former National Board of Revenue officer Matiur Rahman.
A subsequent backlash on social media exposed Matiur鈥檚 huge illegal assets, prompting the ACC to launch an inquiry against him.
Dhaka North City Corporation also carried out a drive against Sadeeq Agro on Saturday, demolishing聽 a structure it illegally constructed along the Ramchandrapur canal and operating without a trade license.
A nine-member team led by ACC assistant director Abul Kalam Azad conducted the drives on Monday, said ACC deputy director [public relations] Aktarul Islam.
ACC officials said that they are preparing to file a case against the owner of Sadeeq Agro, Imran Hossain, for importing prohibited medicine and Brahman cattle.
They said that Imran imported 18 American Brahman cattle in 2021 through a false declaration, as Brahman is forbidden.
The cattle were kept on central cattle breeding and dairy farms after they were seized by Dhaka Customs at the airport.
However, later, Imran, the owner of Sadeeq Agro, took the cattle to his farm through managing government officials.
In April last year, Sadeeq Agro took responsibility for slaughtering and selling cows in the month of Ramadan, with some conditions, said ACC assistant director Abul Kalam Azad.
But this time, Sadeeq Agro has been accused of selling the same type of cow during Eid-ul-Azha. So, an inquiry is being conducted to find out whether the Brahman cows given to Sadeeq Agro were displayed and sold without being slaughtered, he said.
