
At least three people, including popular Baul singer, were killed and three others were injured in separate road accidents in Sylhet and Sirajganj on Thursday.
Two, including the popular Baul singer Pagol Hasan, were killed and three others were injured in a road accident at Chhatak upazila in Sunamganj Thursday early morning, 抖阴精品 staff correspondent in Sylhet reported.
The deceased were singer Matiur Rahman Hasan alias Pagol Hasan, 35, son of Dilshad Miah of Shimultala village of Chhatak upazila, and the auto-rickshaw driver Sattar Miah, 53, son of Ahad Ali of the same area, police said.
Relatives said that Hasan and his companions were returning home in a CNG-run auto-rickshaw after performing music in a function at Dowarabazar upazila in Sunamganj Wednesday night.
On their way, a head-on collision took place between the auto-rickshaw and a minibus in Surma Bridge area of Chhatak Municipality at about 6:30am, leaving 5 auto-rickshaw passengers, including its driver, critically injured.
Confirming the matter to 抖阴精品, Chhatak police station officer-in-charge Mohammed Shah Alam said that Pagol Hasan and the auto-rickshaw driver Sattar died on the spot.
The OC said that the injured Rukan Miah, Kayes Miah and Zahangir Alam were sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital after rescuing them in a serious condition.
The police officer said that they seized the minibus but its driver and his assistant fled the scene.
The body of Baul singer Hasan was handed over to his relatives in the afternoon without post-mortem examination, following an order issued by the additional district magistrate, OC Shah Alam added.
Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man was killed as a bus hit him in Dhopakandi area of Salanga police station in Sirajganj on Thursday, United News of Bangladesh reported.
The deceased Abdul Halim was the son of late Khorshed Alam of Dhopakandi village.
Quoting local people, Hatikumrul highway police station OC Monirul Islam said that Abdul Halim left home on Thursday at about 12:30pm to get his haircut.
The unidentified bus hit him while he was crossing the highway near his house, leaving him dead on the spot, he added.
On information, police recovered the body from the spot and handed it over to the family as there was no complaint. A case was filed in this regard, added the police official.
