A former leader of the Juba League, the youth front of the ruling Awami League, was killed and his son was injured in an attack over previous animosity in front of a police outpost at Dighirpar Bazar area under Tongibari upazila of Munshiganj on Monday.

The deceased is Sohrab Khan, 65, a resident of the Dighirpar union and former president of Dighirpar union unit Jubo League.


Sohrab鈥檚 son, Jony Khan, 42, was seriously injured in the incident.

According to the police, the deceased had a dispute with former Dighirpar union parishad member Bhola Halder over financial transactions.

Both parties held a meeting at the Dighirpar Police Investigation Centre to settle the dispute on Monday.

Later, Bhola Halder鈥檚 people attacked Sohrab and Jony with locally-made sharp weapons, leaving Sohrab and Jony severely injured.

They were rushed to the Tongibari Health Complex, where on-duty doctors declared Sohrab dead.

Jony was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

Tongibari Health Complex residential medical officer Nur-E-Alam Siddiqui said that Sohrab died due to injuries from a sharp weapon to his head and chest.
