Opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Thursday that chief election commissioner KM Nurul Huda lately recognised that the voting in the last general elections on December 30, 2018, held in the night before the election day.

Nurul Huda on Wednesday at a programme ahead of forthcoming Pabna-4 by-election said that there was no possibility of voting in the by-election at night before the election day.

Speaking at a virtual press conference from BNP central office, Rizvi said that the Election Commission had destroyed the election system in the country and everybody believed that in the last general elections voting held at night before the election day.

The voters would not believe the pledge made by CEC as they could not apply their voting rights in the last general elections, Rizvi said.

Moreover, the EC became the mouthpiece of the Awami League government, Rizvi added.
